777 Charlie Review: Dogs might be the most loved pet around the globe. And there is a good reason for it. These are one of the most adorable, faithful, and dependable creatures. And when a movie like 777 Charlie comes around, you are bound to get emotional.
Rakshit Shetty and Raj Shetty have always pushed the boundaries of Kannada cinema with their unique and innovative movies. Shetty brothers are producers, directors, scriptwriters, and actors that have tried to bring something new to the screen every time.
And 777 Charlie is the perfect example of that. This movie might hit you twice as hard if you have a pet dog. Even we were reduced to crying sobs while watching this emotional flick, so we can imagine what would happen to someone who actually owns a pet.
Kannada cinema is usually overlooked and is very underrated film industry. But movies like 777 Charlie needs to be recognized because of what it conveys and what it tries to do. Let’s take a look at the good and bad aspects of the movie so you can see if you want to watch it or not.
777 Charlie Review: Plot
777 Charlie Review: 777 Charlie focuses on the lives of Dharma and a labrador. Dharma is a loner who does not socialize with anyone and likes to isolate himself. Upon the dog’s arrival in his life, Dharma starts to change.
No matter the chaos that the dog stirs up in Dharma’s life, both of them create a bond with each other. And Dharma finds meaning and purpose in his life with the dog’s companionship and develops himself into a better human being.

Music
The music of this movie is undoubtedly melodious. If a music album is good, it can even elevate an average movie. But, when a movie is almost a masterpiece, and the music album is just as good, you know you are in for a treat.
Nobin Paul might have created an album that will be talked about for ages. 777 Charlie is like a road trip rather than a movie. And the music by Nobin Paul is the perfect playlist that you can ask for this journey.
Performances
Every single performance in this movie was brilliant. Rakshit Shetty as Dharma was completely alien to the world, and he performed that role amazingly. Sangeetha Sringeri as Devika was also amazing in her role as an animal activist.
Bobby Simha as an animal lover, had a heartbreaking story. And the way he tells his story will break your heart. Raj Shetty as the animal doctor, will make you laugh uncontrollably throughout. No matter the situation, the performances in this movie were amazing.
Charlie and Dharma
The main attractions of the movie were Charlie and Dharma only. Their journey and relationship will make you happy, angry, and emotionally. You won’t even question why they are going on such a dangerous journey; you will just go along with it.
Their relationship, on the other hand, will fill your heart with joy at one time and will make you weep another time. The scene where Charlie thinks Dharma is giving him up for adoption is cruel to us.

Stretched Second Half
777 Charlie was almost 3 hours long. Meanwhile, we did not have any issues with the runtime of the movie. But specific segments in the second half felt a bit stretched for a very mundane end product.
The performances in these segments made up for these segments, but all of these scenes were stretched unnecessarily. All of these segments could have been trimmed out a little bit for a better experience.
Over Dramatic Segments
Just like the stretched scenes, certain scenes in the movie were overly dramatic. And we understood why the makers dramatized these scenes as much as they could. But most of these scenes came late in the movie.
And by that time, we were already hooked on the movie and were emotionally invested in it. So, if we look at this point in that sense, it does not make much sense to overly dramatize these scenes. Still, it is not a direct dig at the movie. It is just something that sticks out to us.
777 Charlie: Is It Worth It?
Obviously, yes, this movie is worth it. It is one of our favorite dog films now; it is just that good. There are scenes in this movie that will break you completely and will leave you as a complete emotional wreck.
We know that most of the audience won’t be able to watch this movie until it comes out on an OTT platform because of the limited screens. But if you get the chance to watch it on the big screen, you should definitely do that.
