Kuttey Review: Caper Genre is taking over the industry, and I am all in for it. It is one of the most captivating genres, and I am glad that Bollywood is experimenting with it. Caper Genre is basically one or more crimes committed by the characters in the film.
Kuttey is a very ambitious project by Aasmaan Bhardwaj, who is the son of Vishal Bhardwaj, another talented director who gave us the best Caper genre Bollywood movie in the form of Kaminey.
Kuttey boasted a decent storyline from the trailer. It includes a fantastic cast that includes some of the best artists in Bollywood right now. I had high expectations from the movie so let’s take a look at all the positive and negative aspects of the movie.
Kuttey Review: Plot
The movie’s official plot reads, “A van carrying crores of cash. One rainy night on the outskirts of Mumbai. Unaware of each other, three stray gangs cross paths on the hunt. Unfortunately, all of them have the same plan. Will they bite the bone, or will they lose to greed??
As said by the synopsis, the movie features a large sum of cash and several groups that have eyes on that money. The movie then features betrayals and backstabbing by everyone to get that money for themselves, which is the movie’s basic story.
Kuttey Review: What Worked For The Movie?
Music
The music of Kuttey is just gorgeous. Whether it is the background score or the movie album, it fits the genre and makes the movie ten times better. Whether it is the callback to Kaminey or the use of the English language To make songs funnier.
Kuttey has a very underrated music album and a deadly background score that will account for a fantastic theater experience.
Cinematography
The cinematography of the movie is just phenomenal. In so many scenes, the bird’s eye view or overhead shots are used to perfection. Aasmaan really puts on a show for us with single seamless shots.
I am excited to see his future projects, as it will be wonderful to see what he will bring to our world with his expertise.
Cast
Every single cast member has done a wonderful job. Not even a single cast member was terrible and did a superb job. Kumud Mishra was sympathetic, and Konkana Sen was intense. Radhika Madaan was chaotic, Naseeruddin Shah had the demeanor, and Arjun Kapoor shined in his understated role.
But the star who really stole the show was undoubtedly Tabu. She was just damn brilliant in every single scene. After one of the best 2022, she is looking to make 2023 her own as well, and she will do it.
Kuttey: What Did Not Worked For The Movie?
Comedy
The movie’s comedy was rather hit-and-miss for the most part. Some jokes did not land or actually fell flat on the face. They were not bad but were just blended. It could have been better for the most part.
Climax
Another case of what could have been better than it actually was. Kuttey was a delight to watch from start to finish, and the climax was not bad either. It was just that it could have performed well compared to what we got.
Kuttey Review: Is It Worth It?
As an original film, you have to watch it. If you are a fan of Bollywood, you owe it to yourself to watch it because Kuttey is an entertaining original movie that deserves the love and praise of everyone. As the first hall release of 2023, it is as entertaining as possible.
