Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the best actors in the world. There is no doubt about it. And the kind of movie he does is just brilliant. There are so many amazing movies that he has done over the years.
“Nightcrawler” where we saw the best version of Jake Gyllenhaal to date. In Southpaw we saw one of the more grittiest performances by an actor. Source Code was just a mind-boggling movie.
In Spider-Man: Far From Home, we saw a new version of Jake Gyllenhaal as a psychopath villain. In Demolition, it was yet another masterful performance by Jake. Donnie Darko is an underrated gem
And now he is ready to add another masterpiece to his CV. The Guilty looks like a perfect movie and fits right into Jake’s area of expertise. Just by the trailer, I can see that this role is perfect for Jake.
His expressions can completely immerse you in the movie. And that is exactly what the trailer of “The Guilty” is. It is just 2 minutes of Jake Gyllenhaal showcasing what an amazing actor he really is.
He is playing with the dialogues and expressions in such a way that the trailer itself looks interesting. Even though we are seeing him for the entirety of the trailer.
It just amuses me. Now, let’s talk about the trailer. “The Guilty” is looking like a solid thriller that will completely entertain you. It looks like some kind of twisted and broken tale.
The Guilty: Plot
The official synopsis reads “The Guilty takes place over the course of a single morning in a 911 dispatch call center. Call operator Joe Bayler (Gyllenhaal) tries to save a caller in grave danger—but he soon discovers that nothing is as it seems, and facing the truth is the only way out.”
Or “A demoted police officer assigned to a call dispatch desk is conflicted when he receives an emergency phone call from a kidnapped woman”.
The Guilty is a remake of a 2018 Danish Movie of the same name. And guess what, the original movie was a major hit and was loved by fans all around the world.
And I think that this movie will also be loved by all the fans. It has all the things going for it. And if the makers do their job right, we might be looking at one of the best movies of 2021.
I don’t want to say much about the plot as it is really simple. But sometimes the simple things are the most interesting ones. And “The Guilty” looks really interesting.
The Guilty: Release Date
The Guilty is scheduled to have its world premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2021. After that, it will get a limited release on September 24, 2021.
And finally, after that, it will drop on Netflix on October 1, 2021. The Guilty will only be 1 hour and 30 minutes long. So, it is a perfect weekend watch if you ask me.

The Guilty: What To Expect?
As I have said earlier, I am really hyped up for the movie. It looks solid and looks like something that will entertain you without any fail. Expect a high-tension thriller.
I am glad that I haven’t watched the original and now I can enjoy this movie to the fullest. I will watch the original version as well later just for comparison. But as of now, I will enjoy this movie to the fullest.
