Upcoming Star Wars Projects: Star Wars Bad Batch has just completed its first season not so long ago. And fans already want more from the franchise now. And you don’t have to worry about that.
As the Star Wars franchise has lots in store for you. There are 10 new projects scheduled for release in the next couple of years and I am excited for every one of them.
The fact that we will be able to explore the Star Wars world further beyond our imagination and without the involvement of characters from the original trilogy, makes me so happy.
I always wanted the Star Wars universe to expand further than the original trilogy. It will give it the series much-needed diversity and freshness. Now without further ado, let’s get on with all the future Star Wars projects.
Upcoming Star Wars Projects
Here we have listed all the Upcoming Star Wars Projects that have been announced so far. We will update the list with more announcements in future
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Star Wars official Twitter account recently revealed the casting of Obi-Wan Kenobi and it looked fantastic. The story will follow the journey of Obi-Wan Kenobi 10 years after the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith’. In the movie where we saw Anakin finally turning to the dark side and becoming ‘Darth Vader’. That was Kenobi’s greatest downfall and the biggest defeat of his life. We will see Kenobi at its lowest and it will be awesome. Of all the future star wars projects this one looks most promising. The release date is still not revealed, but we can expect a late 2020 or early 2021 release.
Ahsoka
And out of all the future Star Wars projects, this is my favorite. I have been an Ahsoka fan from the beginning. I have seen her in animated shows, comics and I loved every bit of her. Her finally getting a show is like dreams come true. Ahsoka Tano is the apprentice of Anakin or as you know as Darth Vader. It will be a mini-series and Rosario Dawson will be the lead. She has previously appeared in an episode of Mandalorian. Dave Filoni is writing the series and it is being produced alongside The Mandalorian Season 3.
The Book Of Boba Fett
Another spin-off series from The Mandalorian’s second season. In the post-credit scenes of The Mandalorian finale, we saw the announcement of the Boba Fett spin-off series. We have seen Jango Fett in Star Wars Episode 2 and Boba Fett in Mandalorian. Now he will get his own spin-off series in the same timeline as The Mandalorian. The show is scheduled to release in December 2021 and looks quite interesting.
Rangers Of The New Republic
Okay, I know it is getting boring, but it is another spin-off from The Mandalorian. The show will follow the events from The Return Of The Jedi, where the Empire has fallen. The New Republic will govern the world and their pilots will maintain peace in the world. We have already seen Trapper Wolf and Carson Teva in The Mandalorian series. Favreau and Filoni are making the series and they have teased some juicy crossovers for both Mandalorian and Ahsoka.
Andor
Cassian Andor was first live-action appearance was in Star Wars: The Rogue One, where he was a Rebel spy. The character was loved by fans all over the world. And a spin-off series starring him was announced soon after that. The show was announced in 2018, but no other revelations were made before January 2021. When Diego Luna, the main lead of the show announced that the production is underway. The cast has been announced and the show is all set to release in early 2022. We will see some familiar faces returning from the movies. So, out of all the upcoming Star Wars projects, this might be the biggest one.

Acolyte
Out of all the future Star Wars shows, I found this one the most interesting. The story is based on the High Republic and is set 200 years before ‘The Phantom Menace’. It will feature Jedi at their most powerful phase. The series will have some familiar faces in form of Chewbacca. It is a mystery thriller, which will give the universe much-needed diversity. The series will release in 2022, as the production has been delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Lando
I was surprised when Disney announced that they will make a Lando original series. Well, it was teased in ‘The Rise of the Skywalker’, but I was not so sure about that. Justin Simien will be producing the series. Billy Dee Williams and Donald Glover are the main lead of the series. So, we might see both the young and old versions of Lando in the series. We might also see Luke Skywalker in the series, considering young Lando did help him.
Star Wars: Visions
I don’t know what to feel about this series. I am excited but I am also kind of worried. Out of all the future Star Wars projects, this one seems most visionary. It is an anime that will feature 10 episodes and every episode will feature a new story. This series will surely be refreshing and will offer something new to the Star Wars world. But it won’t affect any timeline from the series as it is set up in an alternative dimension.
A Droid Story
Finally, a series starring R2-D2 and C-3P0. Obviously, they will be alongside another hero, but we will ignore that. This time we will see both of the droids in some of the best VFX we have seen. The filmmakers confirmed that. The series is only in its initial stage so you can expect the release date to be late 2022 or early 2023.
The Mandalorian Season 3
And, finally, the most awaited series of Star Wars universe. The first two seasons of Mandalorian were loved by everyone, especially the second one. Obviously, the success of Mandalorian is responsible for more than half of the shows on this list. The final episode of the second season broke the internet and everyone is desperately waiting for Season 3. We just hope to see more character guest appearances that will result in more spin-offs, because I want more of Star Wars.
These are all the upcoming Star Wars projects. I am excited for Star Wars’ future as it looks really promising. Let’s hope that all the shows will deliver and we get more announcements shortly.
