There was a turning point in Bobby’s life when his career went downhill due to a lack of good films and then he started again after a long break. It is said that Bobby was earlier going to be seen in Imtiaz Ali’s popular and superhit film ‘Jab We Met’, but it could not happen, due to which he is very sad.
Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan were seen playing the lead pair in the superhit film ‘Jab We Met’ which was released in the year 2007. Bobby Deol was also to be cast in the film. Bobby spoke openly about this in an interview.
‘Everyone has compulsions’
In an old interview given to BBC, he had said that now I had said this in an interview many years ago. This happens with every actor.
I don’t want to say this again because Imtiaz was a very good friend of mine at one time and I want to respect this friend of mine. But everyone has a compulsion and decisions have to be taken under compulsion. Decisions taken for friends may seem good to one friend and bad to another, it goes on like this.
‘Imtiaz himself took the decision’
In an interview given in the year 2017, Bobby had said that I had come to know that Ashtavinayak had signed Imtiaz for ‘Jab We Met’ and this work was going to be done by Kareena Kapoor.
Kareena had chosen her then-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor to work with her. I said – wow great, what an industry. We were also supposed to do ‘Highway’ together but once again he (Imtiaz) took his own decision.
Bobby told Imtiaz, I will not watch any of your films
Bobby said but I have nothing in my mind for him. He is a great director and doing a great job. We are still friends but I always tell him – Imtiaz, I will not watch any of your films unless you make a film with me and it will be your best film.
