The actress has always been vocal about this. They feel that the opportunities given to star kids in Hindi films deprive the ‘outsiders’.
Now, again hitting out at the star kids, Kangana said in a recent interview that Hindi films are losing out to South cinema because of their lack of relatability with the audience.
South films beat Bollywood.
Post-pandemic times, films from the Telugu and Kannada film industries have performed better than all Hindi films at the box office. Both ‘RRR’ and ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ have earned more than 1000 crores.
While ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ was also a huge success, earning more than 100 crores in the Hindi belt alone.
The Hindi version of these films alone surpassed most Bollywood films released in the last two years.
Kangana feels that this is because the audience does not relate to Star Kids. Who is cast as the leading male and female in many Hindi films?
In an interview with ABP Live, Kangana answered what makes South Indian cinema more successful than Bollywood?
The actress replied, “The way she connects with her audience, she is powerful. I will not tell the fans; it is more than that.
What happens to us is that their (stars) children go abroad to complete their studies. He speaks in English and watches only Hollywood movies.
They only eat with knives and forks and talk differently. So, how will they connect? Oddly enough, it looks like a boiled egg. His entire look has changed so that people cannot relate. I don’t mean to troll anyone.
The actress then cited the example of Allu Arjun’s character ‘Pushpa’ in the 2021 Telugu blockbuster ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ while talking about characters that people can relate to.
He added, “Look what ‘Pushpa’ looks like, what we know. Every worker can connect with him. Tell which of our heroes can look like a laborer in today’s time?
They can not. Hence, his culture (of the South Indian film industry) and straightforward nature give him back.
