The Sandman: Netflix finally released the first teaser of their upcoming show, The Sandman. 8 months after they released the show’s first look. The wait has been very long, but it all looks worth the wait after watching the teaser.

The trailer looked amazing, and it is very rare that we see a trailer this good from Netflix. The VFX looks wholly broken in a good way. And if they can adapt the comics honestly and to their core, we are in for a treat.

The Sandman is based on comic series written by Neil Gaiman and published by DC Comics. The comic series ran wild from 1989 to 1996. It is undoubtedly one of the best comic series under the DC banner.

So, it was surprising that they took this long to produce a show on this title. But as someone has said, “Better late than never.” Let’s look at everything we know about The Sandman so far.

    The Sandman Plot

The Sandman Plot: The official synopsis reads, “Upon escaping after decades of imprisonment by a mortal wizard, Dream, the personification of dreams, sets about to reclaim his lost equipment.”

As you can see, the show’s plot is based on the comics only. It will follow Dream on his journey to reclaim his kingdom of Dreaming. The first season of the Netflix original will follow Volume 1: Preludes & Nocturnes.

The show will show us – Dream’s captivity by a cult, his escape, and how his kingdom crumbled in his absence. We will also see the horrors that the numerous horrors that were left on the earth in Dream’s absence.

    The Sandman Cast

    • Tom Sturridge as Morpheus
    • Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer
    • Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne
    • Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian
    • Charles Dance as Roderick Burgess
    • Asim Chaudhry as Abel
    • Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain
    • Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death
    • Mason Alexander Park as Desire
    • Donna Preston as Despair
    • Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine
    • Joely Richardson as Ethel Cripps
    • David Thewlis as John Dee
    • Kyo Ra as Rose Walker
    • Mark Hamill as the voice of Mervyn Pumpkinhead

Yes, you read the last line right. Yesterday, Mark Hamill will voice Merv Pumpkinhead in The Sandman series. And as soon as the announcement was made, every fan was thrown into a frenzy.

    The Sandman Release Date

The Sandman: The show will be released on August 5, 2022, on Netflix exclusively. As it is a Netflix original, you can watch the show there only. It might be one of the most ambitious comic book adaptations we have ever seen.

The first season of The Sandman will feature 12 episodes. Every episode will be around 45-55 minutes long. And as you know, Netflix will release all 12 episodes in one day only. So, it will be perfect for a binge-watch session.

While there has been no announcement regarding the second season, we can see that it is only a matter of time before that happens. We will update you as soon as something is announced regarding the second season.

    The Sandman: What To Expect?

The Sandman: As we have just said, that The Sandman is one of the most extensive comic book adaptations we have seen in a long time. Just from the trailer, we can see that the VFX of this show is unlike anything we have seen in other superhero shows.

And that is not the only reason we are saying this. The Sandman is adapting one of the most classic comic book series. It is a comic book series that very few love, but they are serious about it.

The Sandman fanbase is like a cult in real life. This comic book series is read by die-hard DC fans or most extensive comic book lovers. And that has to scare Netflix a little bit, at least.

Just like Witcher, this series will also explode. But if Netflix cannot deliver, they will also face some severe backlash. But we hope that is not the case and we get a show worth adoring and exceeding our expectations.
