Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui Review: Chandigarh Kare Aashqui deals with one of the most taboo topics of our country. Well, Ayushmann Khurrana is back with another social movie based on a very taboo topic that our society is too afraid to talk about. The question has to be asked, why does Ayushmann only do these kinds of movies?
I think the answer is because no one else does it. Movies like Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan, Shubh Mangal Jyada Saavdhaan, Bala, and Badhaai Ho are some of his movies based on taboo topics that no one talks about.
But, let’s just leave that topic aside and talk about Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. Because I think, this one covers the most taboo topic out of all of his movies. We at least acknowledge the existence of other topics, but this one is just too much to talk about.
And I want to thank all the other members of the movies that decided to make this movie this bluntly. Because, as a society, we need to have this talk sooner rather than later.

Chandigrah Kare Aashiqui – Plot
Vani Kapoor plays the role of a trans woman named Maanvi who was born a man. But over the course of her life, she realizes that she feels more feminine rather than masculine. And she goes on to transition herself from male to female.
She movies to Chandigarh and starts working as a Zumba instructor in a gym owned by Aysuhmaan Khuranna(Manu). Ayushmaan plays the role of a weightlifter who is very naive and ignorant towards the trans community.
Ayushmaan’s character is a mirror image of our society that is completely ignorant towards the trans society. And are completely unaccepting towards the trans community. Both these characters fall in love with each other.
And when Maanvi finally tells Manu about her real identity, Manu feels cheated. And from here the actual portrayal of how trans women are treated in our society starts.

Transitioning Process
The process of transitioning Maanvi from a male to a female has been shown beautifully in this movie. It could have been a little bit longer, but whatever they showed was brilliant and might actually clear lots of doubt of lots of people.
Second Half
The second half of the movie is actually really good. After the interval, the movie will take you to a completely different zone and you will be shown some harsh realities of our societies but will be entertained at the same time.

Topic
Obviously, the best part of the movie is the topic that they chose. And another thing that surprised me was how balanced the comedy actually was. None of the comedy scenes will feel forced and at the same time, it will give you a reality check that you need.

I mean, we are at the point where we expect a really good performance from Ayushmaan Khuranna. And once again he shines on the screen. He understood his role and once again gave another brilliant performance.

Glorifying Manu Khuranna Transformation
I am not saying that Ayushmaan Khurana’s transformation is not good. But there are so many unnecessary scenes of him working out. If we could have gotten to know more about Maanvi’s struggle instead of Manu’s working-out scene, it could have been more impactful.
Songs
There is not a single song in the movie that will stick with you. All the songs are kind of bad and really forgettable. And when you are making a movie like this, you have to have at least one good song.

Dialogues
This was more of a delivery problem rather than the actual dialogue is bad. Yes, there were some dialogues that came out bad. The constant need for Ayushmaan using Punjabi slang was kind of a dull decision.
And above that Vani fails to deliver as per the demand of the script. There were many scenes where she could have done better and her dialogue delivery was really questionable. And at certain moments her dialogues don’t even make sense.
