Looop Lapeta Review: Netflix gave us so much good content over the past few months. But suddenly we are back with above-average movies once again. Yes, we are talking about Looop Lapeta only and this movie was really underwhelming.
We had so many high expectations with this movie. We can’t take away the fact that the cinematography, editing, and camerawork of Looop Lapeta are pure class. But the screenplay really lets the movie down.
Looop Lapeta is a frame-to-frame remake of the 1998 hit German movie “Run Lola Run”. And there is nothing original in this movie. Run Lola Run was a sensation and there was a reason for that.
Run Lola Run kept everything simple and everyone understood what they were doing. But on the other hand, even though Looop Lapeta is a complete remake they use some completely unnecessary elements and make it really bad.
Looop Lapeta Plot
The movie revolves around Savi who was a track athlete. But an injury to her right knee takes her out of the sport completely. She lives with her boyfriend in Goa only. One day her boyfriend wins a lottery but tragedy strikes.
As Satya gets involved in some shady business. And now Savi has to run the entire town to save him. But she is suddenly stuck in a looop where even her small actions will make a complete difference.
Will she be able to get Satya and herself out of this mess? And will she be able to get out of this complete looop?
Looop Lapeta Review: What Worked For The Movie
Cast
Every single cast member here has done some tremendous work. They understood what they had to do and gave some of the best performances ever. Tahir Raj Bhasin, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, KC Shankar, and Rajendra Chawla were all amazing here.
Taapsee Pannu was not as good as her previous performances but she also delivered a good performance.
Cinematography
I am a really big fan of the cinematography of this movie. I have no doubt that it will be one of the best directed movies of 2022. The shots were so beautiful and intense. And it was one of the reasons that you will watch the movie till the end.
Looop Lapeta Review: What Did Not Work For The Movie?
Screenplay
The biggest downfall of the movie is the screenplay of the movie. Even though it is a remake there were so many instances that ruined the screenplay of the movie. Looop Lapeta is trying to do exactly what Run Lola Run did back in 1998.
Bur unnecessary jokes, stereotypical characters, Unnecessary cringe dialogues completely ruined the screenplay. And the fact that the makers focused more on editing and cinematography did not help at all.
Contradicting Nature Of Script
Looop Lapeta’s script sets the premise in the first scene that Taapsee can not run because of her injury. But in the whole movie, she was sprinting, jumping, and breaking things with her injured leg.
The picture is set up in Goa and both of the lead cast members live there only. But not a single character in the movie had Goa type accent. Everyone was speaking Hindi so fluently and without any problem.
And all of these problems look very small at first but as a whole movie creates a lot of contradicting scenarios. The few characters that were speaking in Goa’s accent felt stereotypical.
Looop Lapeta Review: Is It Worth It?
You can skip this movie in our opinion. Looop Lapeta provides us with nothing new and there was nothing in the movie to write home about. There have been so many remakes in Bollywood and Looop Lapeta falls in the bad remake category.
You can watch shows like JL50 and Welcome Home if you really want to watch something new and unique. But Looop Lapeta is quite a forgettable movie bearable only because of direction and the cast members.
