Mimi Review: I can’t believe how, but Netflix India has released three back-to-back great things to watch. First, it was Ray, then Haseen Dilruba, and now “Mimi”.
Mimi was supposed to release on July 30, 2021. But after the movie got leaked, Netflix decided to release the movie 4 days early. I don’t know if I should be happy or worried about it.
Because as we have seen in recent times, OTT platforms might be the new way for most movies to be released. So, if more and more movies start getting leaked, it will surely affect this scenario.
But let’s get on with the movie now and how it really was.
Mimi is a heartfelt movie where Kriti Sanon really showed us how great an artist she really is. She really stole the show and was undoubtedly the star of the show.
Mimi starts as a pretty good comedy movie and slowly turns into an emotional movie that will really bring a tear to your eye. I will really recommend you to watch this movie.

Mimi Plot
Mimi Plot: The official synopsis of the movie reads “Mimi is introduced by Bhanu to an American couple as a surrogate in exchange for Rs 2 million. She decides to have the baby even when they change their mind and tells her parent that Bhanu is the father”.
Mimi focuses on a girl named Mimi(Kriti Sanon). She is a dancer and is from a middle-class family. Her world will change when Bhanu(Pankaj Tripathi) will come with a proposal.
The proposal is for Mimi to become a surrogate mother to Bhanu’s employer Summer and John. She hesitates at first but agrees when she gets to know that she will get 20 lakh in return.
But her world will once again take an amazing turn when Summer and John will deny taking the baby. And Mimi will decide to birth to the child as her own and will deny abortion.
What follows is an emotional ride for Mimi. A tale of survival, grit, love and so many emotions that I wasn’t able to comprehend it completely. It won’t be wrong to say that I had tears at the end of the movie.
Mimi Review: Positives
Kriti Sanon
I might sound like a broken record, But Kriti Sanon was the backbone of this movie. She really was the standout performer in the movie. And when you have an actor like Pankaj Tripathi and you outshine him, your performance must be really good.
I really can’t express how good she was. You should watch this movie just for her performance. Because she will really steal your heart with this performance of her. Definitely the best performance of her career.
Plot
I really liked the plot of the movie from the get-go. It was perfectly balanced in terms of comedy and drama. It made me laugh pretty easily and the emotions were sky high at the end.
Mimi never felt forced and the actors also helped it look more natural than it actually was.
Mimi Review: Negatives
Pacing
I think that this is the problem with every movie nowadays. The pace of the movie was a tad bit fast than my liking. Sometimes things were happening before I can even process them.
But it was nothing major as the movie always redeemed itself in the next scene somehow.
Mimi Review: Is It Worth It?
I honestly think that it is worth all your time. I don’t know why other critics didn’t like the movie or why they thought it was cringe or cheesy because it wasn’t.
Everything in this movie was nearly perfect. You will laugh, you will cry, you will feel everything that the makers want you to feel. And I think that is the main motive of any movie.
Don’t watch every movie on the same scale. Mimi is everything that it promised to be. And I really think that you will enjoy it for what it is.
