    The King's Daughter Review

The King’s Daughter: Pierce Brosnan has big hairs now!!! Yes, you heard that right! Pierce Brosnan will be back on your screens with long hair this time. I have been a fan of Pierce Brosnan, mostly because of his run as James Bond. Well, only because of his run as James Bond.

But, I think he might have landed another great role in his upcoming movie The King’s Daughter. This movie has been getting delayed for a very long time now. After all, the shooting ended in May 2014, and we will get it now.

The previous name of the movie was The Moon and the Sun but it got changed. It is an American action-adventure fantasy film directed by Sean McNamara. Sean has previously directed movies like Cutting Edge, Love in Paradise, and many more.

So, I can say that this will also be an aesthetic movie. Because of the director and also because of the timeline the movie is set in. Let’s discuss the details of the movie now.

    The King’s Daughter — Plot

The movie is based on the 1997 novel The Moon and the Sun, written by Vonda N. McIntyre. The official synopsis of the movie reads “King Louis XIV’s quest for immortality leads him to capture and steal a mermaid’s life force, a move that is further complicated by his illegitimate daughter’s discovery of the creature.”

The movie is set in the 16th-century British empire. Where King Louis XIV is doing everything he can to achieve immortality. And in his pursuit, he captures a mermaid and steals her life’s force.

Things will get complicated when his illegitimate daughter will suddenly comes into his life and will discover the creature. His perspective towards life itself will change completely and he will start seeing life in a completely different way.

Yes, this will be an adventurous feel-good movie and I hope it is like that only. Because we need these kinds of movies right now. Where we can just sit and watch and feel good.

The King’s Daughter — Releaser Date

This is the interesting part of the movie. The production actually started in 1999 when Michael London acquired the filming rights of the novel. The pre-production started in early 2002 with Natalie Portman as the lead actress.

But it never resulted in anything. But suddenly in 2013, it was announced that Sean McNamara will direct the movie. And after a complete process, the shooting of the movie ended in May 2014. And the first release date was set to be April 10, 2015.

But, just three weeks before the release, Paramount canceled the release without any future date. After that, the name of the movie changed to The King’s Daughter and on June 1, 2020.

And in October 2021, it was announced that the movie will release on January 21, 2022. And we hope it does not delay this time around. The movie will release in the halls with Paramount+ streaming the movie after some time.

    • Kaya Scodelario as Marie-Josèphe
    • Benjamin Walker as Yves De La Croix
    • William Hurt as Père La Chaise

The King’s Daughter — What To Expect?

I have not read the novel, so I don’t have an exact idea of what to expect from the movie. But it feels like a soap opera that will focus on drama. And it has been such a long time since we have gotten a really good drama.

So, the movie will be a good drama with lots of good songs. It is not a musical, but it will feature some great songs. At least I hope it does. Because that will make this movie so much better.
