The Last Thing That Mary Saw Review

The Last Thing Mary Saw Review: The Last Thing Mary Saw shows an unusual love story amidst all the horror.

Finally, a good horror movie has graced our screen. I did not expect much from this movie considering I found the plot much more the same as all the other horror movies. But I was really surprised by how good this movie actually is.

Don’t get me wrong, it is not a horror masterpiece or anything. It is just that The Last Thing That Mary Saw understood itself. And the filmmakers did the small things right that made this movie work.

The slow-paced eerie horror worked because of various things. And most of the time it doesn’t. But the fact that it will keep you hooked, for the most part, is what we are after. Because horror movies are not supposed to scare you every second but they are supposed to build the tension until the final payoff. And The Last Thing That Mary Saw does that beautifully. The Last Thing Mary Saw Plot

The story is a periodic drama set in 1843, Southold, New york. A family living in their old farmhouse gather to mourn the demise of their matriarch. Mary, a young woman lives in a religiously repressive household.

She is defied by her family when they come to know about her romantic relationship with their maid, Eleanor. However, Mary’s family perceives the relationship as an abomination and deal with it as severely as possible. The couple tries to carry their relationship forward in secret. They also plan to go against the family members.

But mystery steps in as they hunch that someone is watching or listening to them. The horror of the film is brought out thereafter. Mary, on the other hand, is under investigation following the death of her grandmother.

Mary is confronted by her family members about her behavior after her grandmother’s death. Religious fanatics target her as they predict that she might have a connection with occult forces. The tension is heightened by the arrival of a stranger and the revelation of greater forces at work. He is also referred to as ‘The Intruder’. Everything You Need To Know About Jackass Forever.

The Last Thing Mary Saw Review: What Worked For The Movie?

    Cast

The polished effort of the cast is noticeable as they made it sure to tell us that the movie is off track. They really gave performances of a lifetime to made it work. The sheer horror that some cast members showed on their faces was just brilliant.

    Pacing

I think that the pacing of the movie was really brilliant. The slow-burning story really complimented the eerie nature of the movie. And made it 100 times better than it actually was.

I was more invested in the movie because of the way it was slowly revealing everything one by one. If they would have rushed it in any way it would have not made any kind of impact at all. And that is a thing that many horror movies have done in past. Moonfall IMAX Poster Is A Thing Of Beauty.

    Something Different

The Last Thing That Mary Saw is not your generic supernatural horror movie. Even if it looks like that on the surface. It is something of psychological warfare that will leave you thinking about it even after the movie is finished.

The advertisement of the movie might be the biggest and only downfall of the movie. Because judging by the trailer and all the promotional events, everything indicated that it will be a supernatural movie.

And there is a lot of fan following for the supernatural genre. So, the fans that were expecting a supernatural horror movie will be really disappointed. Because it is nothing like that. Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight Official Trailer Released.

    Is It Worth It?

The Last Thing Mary Saw Review: As I said, it is not a masterpiece in any sense. But it is a really good movie. It will keep you hooked and will make you use your brain. The tension will be there throughout and the pay-off will be satisfactory as well.
