Amazon Prime Web Series: Farzi S1 Review, Cast, Storyline and Watch Online: In the second minute of the web series “Forgery,” Shahid Kapoor’s character Sunny says to his friend, “We have printed the photo of the most honest man in the world on the most deceitful thing.” This highlights the extent of the fake note operation.
The series, directed by Raj-DK, spans eight hour-long episodes on Amazon Prime Video and explores the art of counterfeit printing. However, the main issue with the series is that it focuses on creating a hero who continuously engages in illegal activities and tries to justify it.
The story revolves around Sunny, who was raised by his maternal grandfather Nana (played by Amol Palekar) after being abandoned by his father and losing his mother. Nana runs a small newspaper magazine called Kranti and aims to bring about a revolution in the world.
He is a talented painter and passes on his artistic skills and revolutionary intentions to Sunny. Through his painting skills, Sunny discovers the ability to design and print fake notes in Nana’s printing press. But the story doesn’t end there.
Farzi Web Series Story in Detail
Farzi S1 Review: “Farzi” explores the world of counterfeiting through eight hour-long episodes. The protagonist, Sunny (Shahid Kapoor), uses his artistic skills to design and print fake notes with the help of his maternal grandfather Nanu, who wants to bring a revolution to the world through his Newspaper – Kranti Patrika.
As the story progresses, Sunny comes across police officer Michael, played by Vijay Sethupathi, who tries to uncover the truth behind the fake notes. Although the casting and writing are good, the character of Michael is not well-developed and is similar to other police officers portrayed in other films and series.
KK Menon is another vital character involved in the fake notes scheme, playing the negative character in the movie as Mansoor Dalal.
The fake currency maker, Mansoor Dalal, has linked the counterfeit notes to Kathmandu, which keeps the series moving forward as the police try to capture him and uncover his connection with Sunny.
As Sunny delves deeper into the world of crime, he begins to turn against the system, driven by the lack of love and support he received in his personal life.
However, he remains emotionally invested in the well-being of those around him, as demonstrated by his friend’s remark, “You need that thing because you know it’s beyond your status.”
Shahid Kapoor has effectively portrayed the complex character of Sunny with his body language and dialogue delivery. The story of Farzi will continue in the second season, with a new look for Shahid’s character.
Cast Performance was great in the series
Farzi S1 Review: The actors in the series navigate the tumultuous dynamic between police and criminals amid the backdrop of counterfeit money, causing turmoil in the country’s economy. Amol Palekar delivers a solid performance in his role.
Sunny is supported by his childhood friend Firoz, played by Bhuvan Arora, who provides exciting interactions with Shahid. Rashi Khanna, Regina Cassandra, and Zakir Hussain make brief appearances.
Are creators building a new Cinematic Universe?
The series is linked to “Family Man” and is part of a larger universe that many writers and directors are creating. While this universe-building is a popular trend, it’s important to have strong stories and innovative thinking to accompany the characters.
The series, although beautifully crafted, does not offer anything new and innovative, which is often sought after on OTT platforms. Despite Shahid’s star power, it may not be suitable for a family audience. If you have the time, it can be a worthwhile watch, but remember that it’s a long commitment.
