Bachchhan Pandey Review: We really have to stop this masala movie culture. As the makers are showing us anything in the name of Masala movies. And we as a viewer have to accept that because of our favorite artists or some other reasons. Or it is just that our standard has become so low.
We don’t know how to start this review. Let’s just say that Bachchhan Pandey might be one of the worst movies done by Akshay Kumar. The movie is so dumb and the screenplay is so badly written that it is beyond pathetic.
Bachchhan Pandey had so many amazing artists but none of them were able to drag this movie because of how badly the screenplay was written. It is just sad to see all of these fine artists trying their hardest to make something work but it’s not possible because of how bad the screenplay is.
Bachchhan Pandey: Plot
Bachchhan Pandey is a remake of the Tamil film Jigarthanda which was based on the Korean movie A Dirty Carnival (2006). All of us know how the story will unfold and what will happen. The problem came when the makers tried to adapt the movie to “Bollywood Masala Movie”.
Bachchhan Pandey is a wanted criminal that has gruesomely murdered so many people that you can’t count them. A young director really passionate about the movie industry and wants to make a name for herself decides to make a biopic on Bachchhan Pandey.
And that is the whole plot of the movie. Don’t get me wrong the concept of the movie is really good, we have seen it twice before already. But the way they adapted it in Bollywood style really ruined the movie.
There were so many dumb scenes that made absolutely no sense. The jokes were so lame and most of the time felt outright racist and body shaming. There was absolutely no effort done in research of the movie and we will discuss it in length.
Bachchhan Pandey Review: Positives
It was really hard to find anything positive in this movie. Yes, the movie was almost 3 hours long and there was not a single good thing here. We are just as shocked as you are. The only good thing about this movie was the cast.
Artists like Ashad Warsi, Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra, and Abhimanyu Singh were the only saving grace of the movie. They were the reason that movie felt a little bit bearable. The only actual comedy scenes where you will laugh will involve these actors only.
Kriti Sanon also impressed everyone with her performance. But the screenplay was so loosely written that even all of these artists were not able to do much.
Bachchhan Pandey Review: Negatives
Research
It can’t be explained how can a director and producer of this level can get so many things wrong. And it is not even the research part, the attention to detail was so bad. And all of those mistakes will stare at you directly.
Akshay Kumar has a stone eye in the movie, but throughout the entirety of the movie, it was always moving. And it was so obvious in the close-up shots.
Another mistake that was so obvious was that every car in the movie had a steering wheel on the left side. We know it is such a small and dumb thing. But the movie is based in Uttar Pradesh and how can the steering wheels be on the left side???
Jokes
I have no idea how can a maker write these kinds of jokes in 2022. Almost every joke was either racist or it was based on body shaming. If the person is of dusky complexion people will call him “Granite or Graphite” and that was the joke.
As we have mentioned earlier the only genuine comedy scenes where you will laugh involved none of these jokes and had other stars in them.
Last Act
The whole movie was bad, but the last 30 minutes were abysmal. It made absolutely 0 sense and made me almost leave the theaters. Bachchhan Pandey who is a wanted criminal was able to roam free in front of police officers just because his movie was a hit.
He was treated like a superstar instead of a criminal who he actually was. Akshay Kumar defeated almost 20 goons after getting stabbed in the eye.
Bachchhan Pandey Review: Is It Worth It?
Bachchhan Pandey Review: Absolutely not!! You can watch anything and that will be better than Bachchhan Pandey. It looks like that Farhad Samji does not have any interest in making a decent movie. His recent movies like Satyamev Jayate, Housefull 4, Laxmi are perfect examples of that.
And just like Farhad Samji, Akshay Kumar also looked completely demotivated in the movie. People are saying that it is a masala movie and it does not have to make sense. And they are absolutely wrong.
Filmmakers are showing us anything in the name of “Masala Movie” and we as fans are accepting it without questioning it. Fans will still like this movie and it will make a profit, but if you really want to watch a good movie, you should skip this one.
