The movie has been declared tax free in many states including Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, some people including Chhattisgarh CM Baghel are demanding to make the film tax-free all over India so that more people could afford to watch the movie. Most of the people watching the film say that the film depicts the atrocities on Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s.
However, some people have a completely different opinion about The Kashmir Files. They believe that an attempt is being made to create hatred towards a particular community through the movie. BSP MP Danish Ali has demanded a ban on the film in the Lok Sabha. He says that such films can benefit politicians but such films are not right for a nation.
