Sherdil: We are getting some pretty good movies in June. And we are not even halfway down the month. Yesterday, the first trailer of Sherdil starring Pankaj Tripathi was released and it looks like something to look forward to.
We have seen Pankaj Tripathi in this look before. Just last year we saw him in Kaagaz, where he did a similar kind of role. He played a character based on the life of Lal Bihari from Uttar Pradesh who was declared dead by the government.
In that movie, he was fighting against corruption and government. And here he will do it again. It is not a dig at him, he played the role in Kaagaz so brilliantly, that we are excited to see him again in a similar role.
Sherdil was being awaited by lots of fans, considering how much Pankaj Tripathi has risen in recent times. And most important of all, the movie is being directed by Srijit Mukherji who is a very fine director as we have seen in his filmography.
Sherdil: Plot
Plot: The official synopsis of the movie reads “Inspired by the real events that took place in the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve where people used to leave their elderly family members for tigers to prey on, and then claim compensation from the administration.”
As you just read, the movie is inspired by true events that took place in Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. The movie will focus on the character of Ganga Ram who will go on a suicide mission. He wants to get himself killed by the tiger.
He will try to save his village from ruins. As the person getting killed by the tiger will get Rs.10 lakhs as compensation. And Gangaram’s eyes are on that compensation. So that he can use that money for the benefit of the village.
Sherdil: Cast
The cast of the movie looks promising. Not much of the cast has been revealed so far. But it is still looking really strong. Apart from Pankaj Tripathi, who is obviously going to steal the show no matter what, other cast members are also really good.
We got Sayani Gupta as the female lead and she has done some good work in the past. And her portrayal looks promising as per the trailer. We also got Neeraj Kabi in the movie. And in recent years he has turned out to be one of the most prominent actors in the industry.
Other supporting cast includes Akshay Kapoor who we have seen in shows like Bose: Dead or Alive, Ray, and many others. We are really looking forward to all these performers and want to see what they bring to the table.
Sherdil: Release Date
The movie will release really soon in the theaters. The movie is all set to release on June 24, 2022. Yes, the release window from the release of the trailer to the release of the movie is really short. It will all depend on the promotions of the movie now.
The movie is U/1 certified and will be around 2 hours long. Netflix is the official streaming partner of the movie and movies will drop on Netflix after their theater run. So, you can also catch the movie there as well.
KK Last Song
Another thing that is emotional about this movie is that it will feature KK’s last song in a Bollywood movie. As we all know, KK sadly passed away on May 31, and the music world has not been the same since.
He recorded this song back in April and will be out very soon. Srijit said in an interview “The song is very special. It’s written by Gulzar Saab and sung by KK. And it is possibly going to be his last song for a film at least.”
Sherdil: What To Expect?
Sherdil: We can all say one thing the performances in this movie are going to be really steallar. You can feel it from the trailer only. Other than that it is Srijit’s first movie after his 2017 controversial yet stellar movie, Begum Jaan.
So, he is working on this script for a very long time. And it can be seen in the trailer. The writing looks crisp and had some funny moments as well. You can expect good things from this movie without any problems.
