The Batman Review: We rarely see a movie so strong that it will shiver you down to your core. But “The Batman” is really one of them. Let us tell you one thing, this is like the scariest version of Batman we have ever seen.
Not in terms of how violent and ruthless he is. But how he deals with everything. He is new to this job and is doing everything to instill his fear in the criminals of Gotham. And it is just wonderful to see.
It is like a horror love letter to all the fans. Yes, The Batman is kind of a horror movie, a psychological horror. This Batman is angry yet scared at the same time. He is scared of failure. He doesn’t know what else to do, as he has devoted his whole life to this only.
Without an ounce of a doubt, Matt Reeves has achieved what he wanted to do. The psychological thriller, the crime-fighting noir movie will shake you down to the core and you will enjoy every single second of it.
The Batman Review: Plot
The official synopsis of the movie reads “When the Riddler, a sadistic serial killer, begins murdering key political figures in Gotham, Batman is forced to investigate the city’s hidden corruption and question his family’s involvement.”
The movie features Bruce Wayne in his second year after he returns to Gotham. He has been Batman for only a year now and he is really struggling to balance both lives. He is angry, he is still searching for Joe Chill, the killer of his parents.
And amidst all that, a new villain appears and challenges Batman like he was never challenged before. Will he be able to get out and save his Gotham once again? And is the story as simple as that, or is there an arc of salvation also in the movie?
The Batman Review: Positives
There are so many good things in the movie that we can talk about, but let’s take a look at some of them.
Character Development
The setting of the movie demands good character development and we are happy to say that it delivered in that aspect. The character development of all the characters was amazing. Especially the character development of Batman was just chef’s kiss.
From a scared and angry vigilante to a hero that the city can rely upon, he came miles in this movie. And you won’t realize that until the last second or if you want to focus on that only.
Robert Pattinson
I think it is time that we all apologize to Robert Pattinson. There were meant doubts as he took on the role of the caped crusader. But I think he shut all the critics very convincingly. He made the character of Bruce Wayne his own.
The fear in his eyes while he is Bruce and the way it changed his anger whenever he puts on that mask was just beautiful. You won’t find a better portrayal of Batman than this very easily. Arguably, one of the finest performances as Batman.
Riddler
Many fans also had doubts regarding the choice of the main villain for the movie. As “The Riddler” does not sound too scary or big time, as a main villain in The Batman movie. But guess what, he surely was.
It is a really good thing that Matt Reeves did not cast old villains in every movie and gave new characters a chance. And the way he wrote The Riddler is truly magnificent. And just a heads up, there is more than one villain so you can be more excited.
Whenever there was a face-off between Robert and Dano, you won’t be able to look away. Definitely the best Batman villain after Heath Ledger’s Joker.
The Batman Review: Negatives
There are no meant negatives that really affected the movie. The only negative that can drive people always from the movie is the Runtime of the movie.
Runtime
With just 5 minutes shy of being 3 hours long, The Batman can really drive away some of the fans. We loved 3 hours of Batman, but for most people, it can be a really difficult task. As sitting in the halls for 3 hours can be a little bit tedious.
The Batman Review: Is It Worth It?
If you like your superhero movies, fark and gloomy and based on psychological affairs rather than flashy moves, and want amazing action and some really amazing moments of self brilliance, The Batman is perfect for you.
Go watch it as soon as possible, before someone else ruins it for you by spoiling it.
